Senior Service Day – This once a month USDA program provides 300 Henderson County Senior Citizens meeting income requirement with a generous food box. The 2nd Tuesday of every month a truck from Evansville arrives at Approximately 20 passionate, jovial volunteers begin a fury of activity assembling boxes. Pick up time on the 2nd Tuesday of the month is Noon – 2:00. Seniors may also pick up the next morning 8:30 – 10:30. Housing Authority’s Rachel Jackson picks up and delivers 50+ food boxes to her residents.
A group of volunteers from First Christian Church pick up 50+ food boxes to deliver to Redbanks Towers and Redbanks Regency. A group of volunteers from First Baptist Church pick up and deliver 30+ food boxes to St. Joseph and Pleasant Point Apartments. An extremely busy day! Rewarding, Heart Wrenching, Joyous are also words to describe this day!
Food Pantry – HCCO opens door for food pantry days at 8:45. Our maximum clients in a two hour period are 40. HCCO has a growing list of compassionate faith filled volunteers who share their time with us. A volunteer staff of 12-15 is needed daily for front desk, interviews, food pantry assistance and carry out.
